Regs review consultation extended
The Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE) have announced a one month extension of the consultation period for feedback on options and proposals for amending the Health and Safety at Work (Mining Operations and Quarrying Operations) Regulations 2016 (the mining regulations). Submissions are now due 28 September 2018.
MinEx have completed significant consultation and would have been happy to submit by Friday 17 August, however the extension is in recognition of a request from industry for longer to consider the proposals, and resourcing pressures that MBIE is facing.
The Minister for Workplace Relations and Safety wanted to have the new regs in place by the end of this year and MinEx hopes the just announced extension will not lead to any substantial delays in that timeframe.
