Targeted Review of Qualifications
NZQA is aiming to reduce the number of qualifications in the New Zealand Qualifications Framework. This is to make educational and career pathways clearer to learners and employers. A Targeted Reviews of Qualifications (TroQs) for the Extractives sector was completed in late 2014 and the outcomes implemented from mid-2015. The outcome is a new set of qualifications to replace the existing ones, which are being phased out. These new qualifications are available now:
- New Zealand Certificate in Mining and Quarrying (Level 2) [Ref 2931]
- New Zealand Certificate in Surface Mining and Quarrying (Level 3) [Ref 2785]
- New Zealand Certificate in Underground Mining (Level 3) [Ref 2786]
- New Zealand Certificate in Mines Rescue (Level 4) with strands in Surface and Underground, and an optional strand in Supervision [Ref 2784]
- New Zealand Diploma in Mining and Quarrying (First-line Supervision) (Level 4) [Ref 2783]
- New Zealand Diploma in Mining and Quarrying (Supervision) (Level 5) with strands in Surface and Underground [Ref 2787]
